New Patient Info

You can expect the following scenario during your first visit to Atlas Chiropractic:

On the first appointment, we ask you to fill out a patient history form that will help us to better understand your problem. Once you’ve checked in and completed your necessary paperwork, you’ll meet with Dr. Nieter and he will spend between 30-45 minutes with you. During this time, a review of your pertinent history will be covered, a complete Chiropractic Exam will be performed, and if you and the doctor determine x-rays are needed, they will be taken at this time. Dr. Nieter will then review your examination results and x-ray findings. Any questions or concerns that you may have will be addressed at this time. Once all questions have been answered and all of your findings have been covered, and before you’re adjusted, Dr. Nieter will explain how the adjustment works and what it will feel like. Dr. Nieter only performs the most gentle and specific methods available today.

If you would like to speed up your initial visit,

You can expect the following after your initial adjustment:

Peace and Relaxation - After an adjustment you may experience a feeling of deepening peace and relaxation. This relaxed feeling may last for the rest of the day or the week and may lead to deep, refreshing sleep. Others may have at times felt a warm feeling flowing to various parts of the their bodies that's very soothing. Some feel very energetic and do all their chores or business that day with a light, happy feeling.

Relief of Symptoms - Others may find that their symptoms have begun to disappear, that the problems that they came to the chiropractor for have begun to lessen after the first visit. And, there are some people who feel no difference after an adjustment. That does not necessarily mean that they are not benefiting from their adjustments, if just means that they are not feeling any external reaction.

Adjustment Reactions - Other people, usually a small minority, may feel discomfort, muscle soreness or even some pain and they may experience a headache or some other uncomfortable feeling. What causes Adjustment Reactions? You may be experiencing a detoxification or cleansing of your body after the adjustment. It may be to the muscles that are realigning the spine after the adjustment. Often these are muscles that haven't worked properly for years and may be in a weakened state. Sometimes nerves that were impinged or compressed for years are now "coming back to life" or healing and are becoming sensitive again.
